Dubbed “Australia’s most scenic Marathon,” the Carcoar Cup is an unforgettable event bursting with community spirit in the heart of historic Carcoar.

Nestled in the historic village of Carcoar, in Central West NSW, this iconic event offers something for every level of runner, from the scenic 6 km run to the challenging marathon.

Beyond the challenge of the course lies the warmth of the Carcoar community, where spectators and volunteers alike cheer you on every step of the way.

It has been awarded Community Event of the Year in 2011, NSW Regional Flagship Event 2014, 2015, 2016, and NSW Flagship event for 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020. It achieved ten years of running in 2022.

THE COURSE

Named the ‘most scenic marathon in Australia’, this challenging course in Central West NSW is as spectacular as they come. You can expect bitumen, dirt tracks, hills, dales, undulations, and stunning scenery.

EVENT INFORMATION

6:00 am – 7:45 am – Courthouse opens for bib collection

8:00 am: Marathon and Teams Marathon (42.2 km) starts from Belubula Street in Carcoar

8:15 am: Carcoar Cup for Kids (1.8 km) starts from Belubula Street in Carcoar

8:45 am: Carcoar to Creek Dash (6 km) starts from Belubula Street in Carcoar

8:45 am Iberdrola Australia Half Marathon (21.1 km) starts from Crouch Street in Neville

9:30 am – Bestwick Real Estate 10 km Special (starts from Mandurama/Fell Timber Road)

2:00 pm: Prize-giving ceremony in the garden of the Royal Hotel.

Bib Collection is at the historic Carcoar Court House between midday & 5.00 pm (preferred) or on Sunday, 8th November (Race Day) between 6:00 am & 7:45 am. If you are arriving on Sunday, please be there at least 45 minutes before your race to register.

Parking at Freshwater Park is available on Wilson Street, Ada Avenue, and the surrounding residential streets. Please respect the local residents and do not park across driveways.

Bus 483 between the CBD and Strathfield runs along Ada Avenue, with the closest bus stop only 200m from Freshwater Park.

Temperature has historically been between 8 and 22 degrees – perfect for running.

You can expect bitumen, dirt, hills, dales, undulations, fantastic scenery, the town of Neville, Mount Macquarie, and the town of Carcoar.

All event distances are professionally chip timed by Multisport Australia.

Each finisher will receive a Carcoar-themed medal at the finish line as well as other sponsor giveaways.

The 1.8k race is a Family Dash event aimed at getting youngsters involved in healthy outdoor activities. An accompanying adult can run with their child for an additional $10. Register your child first, then add an accompanying adult bib during the registration options. Please note the accompanying adult will not be timed and will not receive a finisher’s medal.

There are no cut-off times for the 2 km, 5 km, 10 km, or Half Marathon. There is a cut-off time of 6 hours for the full Marathon event.

Race bibs are printed three weeks before race day and posted two weeks out. To have your name on your bib, make sure you register at least three weeks before the event. If you’d like your bib posted, the cut-off is two weeks before race day.

There will be a photographer present on the course taking photos of you, which will be posted on our socials following the race.

We strongly advise against using earphones during the event and encourage you to stay fully aware of your surroundings at all times. While all roads are closed and supervised by the Rural Fire Service, there is always a chance that a vehicle could bypass the barriers. Please remain vigilant for your safety
